US Military Cemetery

Florence, Italy

    The US Military Cemetery outside Florence, Italy contains the graves of over 4,000 soldiers, sailors, and airmen who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The Wall of the Missing contains over another 1,000 names honoring those who rest in unknown graves. Located on a beautiful hillside, the cemetery is peaceful, with immaculately manicured lawns and shrubs.

    While walking through the cemetery, I decided to take pictures of the headstone of each 10th Mountain Division soldier on either side in one row. Below are all of the pictures of those headstones in just one row. The sheer volume of the headstones below makes one realize the incredible destruction of war.
